Cottams Close - 2013
Our clients wanted to demolish two conservatory style rooms attached to the back of their house, they were too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter, but they did need more space. We designed them a ground floor extension that would give them a fabulous kitchen, dining, living room with sliding doors out in to the garden. There will also be a new, bigger utility room. Upstairs, over the existing garage and new utility room, there will be a fabulous new master bedroom and luxury en-suite.

Halam House - 2013
On this project we worked very closely with architect, John Thornewill of JMT Design Ltd. As specialists in period renovation work, we combined traditional building skills with the latest technology to create an extension to this beautiful period house that blends into the original structure seamlessly. The extension comprises of a pantry, downstairs cloakroom, utility room, and luxurious en-suite on the first floor. It also includes a boiler room that runs the new high tech heating system. Hill Farm Furniture of Dry Doddington built the kitchen.

Lime Tree Gardens - 2012
This house had a previously built extension linking the kitchen, utility area and garage. The floors were on differing levels, it was 'bitty' and cold. The family wanted a bigger kitchen and a nicer utility room, they also wanted to make their home warmer and more energy efficient. We installed solar panels; a new, more efficient central heating system; new double glazed windows; raised the roof of the extension; insulated the floor; re-fitted the kitchen in its new position; and moved the downstairs wc.

Ella Road - 2012
Our clients and their children had out grown their kitchen. They wanted a much larger living, dining, kitchen, homework space that flowed out into their garden. Like so many families today, they did not want to move house. They also needed to carry on with their busy lives whilst the building work was completed, so Spaces Building turned their existing dining room into a temporary kitchen/utility for the duration of the project.

One side and the end wall of the existing kitchen were removed to enable new kitchen and utility areas to be created, with the upper rooms being supported by cleverly concealed steel columns and beams. The new space is flooded with natural daylight by a combination of Velux windows down one side and aluminium bi-fold doors opening onto a new patio area to the rear. The old garden wall was cleverly extended with reclaimed bricks and it is difficult to see what is original and what is new!

Carvers Croft - 2011
This bungalow has probably one of the best views in Nottinghamshire. Our clients wanted to take advantage of this by building a loft conversion with a dormer extension. This has created 2 stunning new bedrooms with a shower room. The new staircase has thrown a pool of light into the original ground floor which was previously very dark.

Abbey Road - 2010
Our client wanted to update her 1950's semi from a student party pad to something more befitting a graduate career girl. With clever planning, a small extension and internal modifications, we were able to transform her home.

The small upstairs bathroom and separate toilet were knocked into one spacious room with large luxury shower. Downstairs a wc, and utility room were created from the old kitchen. We built an extension across the back of the house and knocked it into the dining room, fitted new units and appliances to create a large kitchen, living, dining space. This room opens out onto a decked area, ideal for summer barbeques with friends.

Bramley Close - 2010
Our clients had seen what we had done with their neighbour's home and presented us with a wish list! They wanted a new modern, kitchen, living, dining room with easy access to their garden. They also wanted a larger utility room with a door into the garage. Upstairs, they wanted a much bigger master bedroom and en-suite. The result is fabulous!

Byron Gardens - 2010
Our clients wanted to adapt their bungalow to their new 'retired' life style. By converting the loft, two bedrooms and a shower room were created for their guests, in particular their son and his family. There is also a light and spacious study area. Downstairs the en-suite master bedroom was completely refitted, and the cloakroom extended to form a shower room.

Best wishes for your retirement!

Archway House - 2010
This beautiful Edwardian family home was built with large and elegant rooms. However, in the 1900s, houses were designed to have a small kitchen and several dedicated utility/pantry areas, all very much behind the beige doors and tucked away from the garden! The house has a very grand and beautiful front entrance, but as would be expected for a house of this age, a 'tradesman's entrance' hidden around the back.

Our clients wanted a much larger kitchen with dining and living space, and easy access to the beautiful garden. They also wanted an inviting but practical entrance for friends and family that was close to the kitchen and not hidden away.

We designed the extension to blend into the existing architecture. A dark open courtyard and also a store room were incorporated into this space to create a fantastic new room with French windows onto a new terrace. The old coal house was converted to the new entrance which faces onto the parking area. We also added new bathrooms and shower rooms and more modern insulation. It was a real pleasure working on such a beautiful house.

Orchard Close
This extension to the rear of the house, has transformed the kitchen and dining rooms. Previously the kitchen was a small walk through to the dining room. The extension has made a lovely light airy room which now forms part of a large modern living, dining, kitchen room.

Hillside Drive
This extension to the front of the house has: increased the size of the living room; created a study; utility room; wc; upstairs bedroom with en-suite and created this magnificent full height hall way. The hallway has a fabulous oak staircase and great views over Southwell.

Fairfield House
There had been several extensions to Fairfield House over the years, and we were about to build another! A stunning rear elevation has created a magnificent kitchen, dining, living space which looks out over the beautiful mature garden. Upstairs a very small bedroom has been extended to a large double and an extra bedroom with en-suite has been added. The house had a very small hall and very dark dining room. We were able to remove part of the original outside wall with some large steel beams which has created a beautiful light spacious dining entrance room. The dated fireplaces were removed and a wood burning stove was added to the living room.

Woodland Drive
This was one of the very first projects we did for a private client. What clients to have for a first job! Vicky insisted on making the guys fairy cakes, and they thanked us with beer at the end.

This extension and garage conversion has created one new bedroom and extended another one upstairs. On the ground floor it has extended the kitchen; created a play room; created a side entrance from a utility room and a downstairs loo.
